Pictochat was designed for DS users to be able to chat with other people within 50 feet. You can use the keyboard or you can use the little pen to write. There are 4 - 5 chatrooms in which any user may choose. You can also make other symbols. At the top left corner, there is a bar. That bar shows how strong the connection between you and the other partie is. When it is red, the connection not strong at all. When it is orange, the connection is averagely good. Green shows that the connection is excellent. The power light will continusly blink green, signalling that the DS has enough energy to power it and because it is using Wi-Fi connection. If the battery is low, the light will continusly blink red, signalling that the battery is low & that it is using Wi-Fi connection. The DS will try to make a stronger connection when there is a full battery. However, when the battery is low it will not try to make the connection stronger.
